‘You look the same age!’ say 90s movie fans as Dr. Dolittle child star dances in TikTok video with lookalike daughter

NINETIES and Noughties American actress Kyla Pratt and her lookalike 13-year-old daughter, Lyric Kilpatrick, broke the internet with a recent TikTok video.

The adorable viral clip, which was posted in December of last year, shows the iconic Disney actress and her daughter Lyric, all smiles as they pose side-by-side.

The two can be seen wearing black matching outfits, and dancing along to the heart-warming song Baby I’m Yours by Cass Elliot which can be heard in the background.

The viral video has now garnered over 644,000 likes, and 12,700 comments on TikTok from Kyla’s fans who many believe her daughter could pass as Kyla’s ‘twin’.

One ecstatic fan said: “Kyla! She looks just like you when you were a kid acting in Love & Basketball. Her face is your face!”

Another fan made a similar comment, and said: “Let’s talk about the fountain of youth that Kyla keeps giving. We need a One On One reboot, with her playing your daughter on screen!”

The Proud Family actress’s has two daughters: Lyric and Liyah, 10.

Kyla shares her two children with her longtime partner, Black Ink Crew reality star and tattoo artist Danny Kilpatrick, 37, who she began dating in 2005 and got engaged to in 2011.

The Call Me Kat actress also shares a close connection with Danny’s son from a previous relationship, Danny Kilpatrick Jr, whom she often refers to in interviews as her “bonus baby”.

KYLA’S EARLY TELEVISION CAREER

Kyla began her career at the age of 8, after appearing in adverts for Nike.

In 1993, she made her first TV appearance in US sitcom Where I Live.

Between 1995 to 1997, the influential actress had already begun carving out her own lane as a child star within Hollywood.

The Hotel For Dogs thespian starred in an episode of hit 90s sitcom Friends as a girl scout by the name of Chalra Nichols back in 1996 episode titled The One Where Rachel Quits.

In 1997, she appeared in an episode of action crime TV series Walker, Texas Ranger, in which she portrayed 10-year-old, Kyla Jarvis.

She followed this appearance with a string of 90s and early 00s appearances in hit shows of that era, such as: Sister Sister, Smart Guy, Lizzie McGuire, Family Matters, Moesha and The Parkers.

In 2001, she got her first main TV role as Breanna Barnes in successful 2000s sitcom One On One, in which she played a precocious teenager living with her father, played by actor Flex Alexander, 54.

Kyla starred in all 5 seasons of the classic sitcom, from 2001 to 2006, and could be watched in the UK on now-defunct channel, Trouble.

The animation star also joined the cast of BET’s Let’s Stay Together from season 2 to season 4, back in 2012 to 2014.

KYLA’S VENTURE INTO THE SILVER SCREEN

The During the shows run, Kyla voiced the lead character of Penny Proud, in the Disney Channel’s animated series The Proud Family. In 2005, she also voiced the character for The Proud Family Movie.

As well as having a stellar TV career, the Los Angeles-native has an impressive film career, having acted in impactful movies such as 2000s romantic sports drama film, Love & Basketball.

The Addams Family 2 actress played young Monica in the sports flick, with actress Sanaa Lathan, 52, playing the character Monica as an adult.

In 2004, Kyla, who was now a seasoned actress, starred in live action and animated comedy film Fat Albert.

Kyla also made her mark in the blockbuster film franchise as the character Maya Dolittle, in 1998 comedy film Dr. Dolittle.

The then 10-year-old actress acted alongside comedy legend Eddie Murphy, 63, who played her father in the film.

The movie made an astounding £234 million in box-office sales worldwide.

She followed this up with Dr. Dolittle 2 in 2001, the direct-to-DVD releases of Dr. Dolittle 3 back in 2006 and Dr. Dolittle: Tail to the Chief back in 2008.

The dynamic actress also acted in Dr. Dolittle: Million Dollar Mutts back in 2009.

That same year Kyla acted alongside Emma Roberts, 33, in family comedy film Hotel for Dogs, where she played the role of Heather, a pet store employee who later becomes the hotels new guide.

In 2014, Kyla was voted #97 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Child Stars.

KYLA’S BEAUTY REGIMEN

The Dr. Dolittle actress spoke to online fashion and beauty blog Who What Wear last year to discuss the secret behind her ageless beauty.

Kyla told the online platform: “My beauty staple is African Shea Butter. I watch what I eat so that my skin doesn’t break out. I don’t like heavy make-up, so I use Fenty Beauty’s Blurring Skin Tint.”

In recent years the actress, who was voted #97 on VH1’s Greatest Child Stars list in 2014, now balances her successful acting career with motherhood as well as presenting work.

She made one-of-off TV appearances in shows such as HBO’s Insecure in 2020, and A Black Lady Sketch Show in 2022.

A new generation of black women-identifying talent such as Insecure writer and producer Issa Rae, 39, have cited Kyla’s work as having had a positive influence on them.

Issa interviewed Kyla back in 2020 for the online blog The Jasmine Brand, and told the 90s actress: “I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you. The body of work you’ve accomplished, you stay working.”

In 2016, Kyla opened up about motherhood to the blog MadameNoire, and said: “I am their [her children] biggest example. So I need to keep going and continue to do what I’m doing [acting].”

Kyla continued: “If I don’t follow my dreams, then what are the babies going to think.”

The fashionable star has amassed an an online following of over 2.4 million on Instagram, who remember her work fondly from their childhood.

The nostalgia continued in 2022 when Disney+ premiered The Proud Family reboot The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.

The new series saw the original voice cast, including Kyla, reprise their roles.

The NAACP-award winner often posts gorgeous videos of her attending and presenting exclusive events and behind the scenes images of her many TV appearances.
